Wit, Starring Cynthia Nixon, Extends on Broadway

Manhattan Theatre Club’s Broadway revival of Wit, starring Tony winner Cynthia Nixon, will play seven additional performances at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Lynne Meadow’s production of the Prize-winning drama by Margaret Edson opened on January 26 and had been set to close on March 11. The limited engagement will now end on Saturday, March 17, to make way for David Auburn’s The Columnist, which will begin previews on April 3.

Wit centers on Vivian Bearing (Nixon), a brilliant and exacting poetry professor, who undergoes experimental treatment for advanced ovarian cancer. A scholar who devoted her life to academia, she must now face the irony and injustice of becoming the subject of research.

In addition to Nixon, Wit features Pun Bandhu (Technician), Suzanne Bertish (E.M. Ashford), Michael Countryman (Harvey Kelekian/Mr. Bearing), Jessica Dickey (Technician), Chiké Johnson (Technician), Greg Keller (Jason Posner), Carra Patterson (Susie Monahan) and Zachary Spicer (Technician).
